Should I be nervous entering this gate? Is it usually/always open?  That's clearly not someone's
house; it's a business or school or something.

Yes, I walked around the corner and up the marginally accessible ramp to the road.  Any "bike path"
that requires me to walk my bike at least two times (and three or four while I'm learning)
is not really a bike path... it's a secret hideaway access route.  Jim Rockford, where are you?
