Fritz Miericke Memorial Bike Tour
ABOUT THE FRITZ MIERICKE DEPOT TOUR
Cycling lost a great friend and supporter with the death of Fritz Miericke in January. We have decided to restart the old Ride to the Depot to honor Fritz's memory. Please join us to celebrate the life of Fritz Miericke and to remember that he made this world a better place to ride. This ride is planned for riders of all abilities from cruisers choosing the 35 mile route to long distance cyclists who want to do the 110 mile route. There is a special family route of 16 miles for parents with children. The day starts with a delicious, hot breakfast at the Community Club in White Heath, IL. Food stops include snacks and lunch so bring your appetite and be prepared for fun. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. For further info call (217) 352-7600.
REGISTRATION
Pre-registration fee is $16 and must be received by Sept 22.
Registration the day of the ride and breakfast will be from 7 to 10:00 AM. Day of ride fee is $18.00 each.
Family fee $8.00 each for the 16 mile family route only.
THE START
Registration, breakfast, and the start will be at the White Heath Community Center, White Heath, IL. To get to White Heath take I-72 west from Champaign (or east from Decatur) to the White Heath exit (#169). After you enter White Heath watch for the right turn sign at Orange St. to the Community Center.
THE ROUTE
The Ride to the Depot will include routes of 16, 35, 40, 75, and 110 miles. All routes (except the 16 mile family route) travel through either Lake of the Woods Park and/or Allerton Park with snack stops in both. Plan to stop in Allerton Park to enjoy the formal gardens, statuary, and stately Allerton House. The paved country roads are flat to slightly rolling with light traffic only.
SUPPORT VEHICLES
Marked support vehicles will patrol the route to offer assistance and rides to cyclists with problems.
FOOD STOPS
The day starts with a hot breakfast including pancakes and sausage for all riders at the Community Center. The 16 mile family route includes breakfast but no snack stops or lunch. The 35, 40, mile routes include breakfast and one snack stop. The 75 mile route includes breakfast, 2 snack stops and lunch. The 110 mile route includes breakfast, 3 snack stops, and lunch.
T SHIRTS
Ride to the Depot imprinted T Shirts can be ordered with pre-registration entries only. Long sleeve T Shirts are available with the Depot logo imprinted on the front and Fritz's photo on the back for $18.00. Use the T Shirt order form on the registration form.
