Where I post assorted thoughts and links relating to learning, specifically learning difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, "dyscalculia" and all the other reasons people struggle with numbers and math and arithmetic, reading, Orton-Gillingham stuff and ... whatever!

Patience

... I have been known to express my gratitude that we haev mandatory assessment and placement, since I would like my job so much less were I in that nasty tutoring situation of simply not no way no how being able to get a student where they want to be.
I realize this week that I wouldn't be able to do my job. I honestly do morph from a patient and skilled tutor to a cranky, demeaning creature from the depths trying to hide behind a mask of forced kindness at times... and specifically, at the times when a student is trying to learn the whole section of math in three hours, or trying to complete a research paper when they don't quite know what paraphrasing is.
Fortunately it doesn't happen *that* often... but there's more of it this semester. Hopefully it's not a trend... and hopefully, now that I've identified the culprit, I can come up with a management strategy. I stink at masks.
(Still don't like blogs rife with spelling and apostrophe errors. I definitely don't like 'em. )
