Spelling, continued.
Oh. The third word was desiccated.
Here is reinforcement of Sue's Theory About Being A Good Speller.
Because I knew 19 out of 20 of those bad boys, I will now never forget about desiccated, much as you never forget That One Oopsie. I misspelled independent... and neighbor... thus, I think spelling should be done mostly at the "mastery" level, and that entirely too much time is spent at the "frustration" level of learning.
It's not just me, of course... that's one of the principles of Orton-Gillingham training. Master stuff - and then do **lots** of review and practice, even of skills you have mastered. I will be using desiccated. I will have this solid association of "desi" with "Desert" - which, of course, I learned by knowing you'd rather have two desserts and one desert.
