Where I post assorted thoughts and links relating to learning, specifically learning difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, "dyscalculia" and all the other reasons people struggle with numbers and math and arithmetic, reading, Orton-Gillingham stuff and ... whatever!

Call to Character.

Welp, maybe.

I dug out "Call to Character" or whatever the name of it is, which tries to be an old-fashioned reader with more modern writings and succeeds handsomely. There's an excerpt from Frederick Douglass' autobiography talking about deciding to learn to read (with discussion of the evil of power over another human) that has great examples of suffix addition. Now, to figure out how to marry the "authentic reading" to the "structured, systematic sequence." 'Tis my calling.
