Where I post assorted thoughts and links relating to learning, specifically learning difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, "dyscalculia" and all the other reasons people struggle with numbers and math and arithmetic, reading, Orton-Gillingham stuff and ... whatever!

Write-on boards rock :)

... they're just pretty good for doin' this math stuff.

The studenst like 'em and say, somehow, they're better.

Theories as to why?

A. Novelty, which increases attention and focus.
B. NOvelty, which means it's different from the experiences with negative associations in the past.
C. YOu can erase mistakes *totally* - so that you can make things still "look right" - line up right when you're doing a multi-step problem, etc.
D. You can write bigger - see it better anduse more of that gross motor which for so many of our guys is easier than fine motor.

for me novelty means doing something that has a good history being made by another person in the past.
