Oh, goody... somebody's written the novel I don't have time to :) Hope its good! Scott Westerfield likes it, and I *loved* Westerfield's "So Yesterday," about mildly rebellious teenagers in a setting about 15 minutes into the future, where you could get jobs being 'fad starters,' and the protagonists manage to inject serious random acts of marketing anarchy into the mix. Much lighter than the "Uglies" and "Pretties" and "Specials" books in treatment of current needs for social status.
So I'm going to ... hmmm... go get my new ID because I need to do that to use the library, which I assume will have something by Cory Doctorow, who I remember deciding not to read when I was reading a fair amount of science fiction 'cause he seemed like a very 'guy' author (and mainly because of the "so many books, so little time" factors...)
