SO. One of my students brings in a page from her daughter's homework and notes there are similarities in her daughter's work and her work. (I'm glad to say she wasn't discouraged by this and didn't think it strange that we learn a lot of the same things but apply them differently when we're older.) I have to wonder what my momma would have done had *I* brought that worksheet home, because it was branded. It had lovely pink graphics around the exercises with "Barbie" logo at the bottom. Dudes, Barbie dolls were not allowed in our house 'cause she just wasn't my folks' idea of an appropriate role model.
HOw much materials at schools is "funded" this way? (And gosh, I ***HOPE*** the stuff's free or darned cheap.) What if a teacher decides to include anti-barbie propaganda in the curriculum?
Ah, the questions of the day...
