Where I post assorted thoughts and links relating to learning, specifically learning difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, "dyscalculia" and all the other reasons people struggle with numbers and math and arithmetic, reading, Orton-Gillingham stuff and ... whatever!

Okay, time to start the New Year's idea now. I'm going to be working on math and spelling materials and I'm going to be finding stuff along the way.

To wit:

this is a "homeschool spelling curriculum."

NOT a good "start with the basics" for dyslexic students; however, I rather like it.

This one is “appropriate for grade 6 to 8 level.” Does a nice job of listing spelling rules :) Assumes a basic foundation in phonics and doesn't group that way, but for a student like me it would be very good. Has straightforward language use exercises such as listing the singular nouns (but you don't have to figure them out; it tells you) and then writing their plurals, reminding you to refer to the plurals rules.
I also like the choices of words, which are the kind you sometimes find in the 500 words we use in common confersation, but also go to the “next level” of words we should be reading and using far more often than we do, such as “sketch” and “excursion.”

More soon :) :)
