"Can we like, space, after the thesis statement?"

"Do you mean start a new paragraph?"

"Yea!"

When students have become experts at getting answers from others without understanding, it's rewarding to watch them learn the real thing. Understanding that yes, we were "shifting gears" in writing and realizing that there's a way to communicate this... now this little paper is going to make a lot more sense to reader and writer, both.
