So!
It's a new academic year. This has always been my time of "New Year's Resolutions" and reflection on direction.
Here's the big news for 2006-2007: Gonna do that spelling software! I've put myself at the mercy of others... and now I've got a deadline for figuring out some of the "ways to practice spelling" (yes, I know, it's right there on my site :-)), explain them in ways so that the computer guy can manifest it in that realm.
That means figuring out at least for starting, how to "translate" the various practice techniques into thigns that can be done with a computer.
For instance, "reverse chaining." Here's what it would look like pen & paper:
does
doe___
do___
d___
_____
Now, you're supposed to say "Does, d-o-e-s" and then somehow make that disappear with an index card... lots easier with a computer of course!)
Advantage being that you can *peek* with the index card - but of course you can have an index card come down and cover it up and you can click "peek" and peek.
And what would be even cooler is if somehow the computer could record that "okay, you looked and peeked!" and log that somewhere.
Hey, if it were romanticized as some kind of quest, and this was a tool but it "cost you" (I don't know how this stuff works...) - or if I want to be appallingly positive, somehow you benefit and *get* tools for doing it peek-free... but the cost of a mistake is greater than the cost of the peek...
Okay, my "gotta click save every two minutes" is starting to annoy me, so even though I sense that Dr. Google is saving this, I'm moving to a format that *I* can click Control-S for :=)
