Where I post assorted thoughts and links relating to learning, specifically learning difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, "dyscalculia" and all the other reasons people struggle with numbers and math and arithmetic, reading, Orton-Gillingham stuff and ... whatever!

Shut up and Show

... that's my method for kinesthetic learners :=)
Subtracting integers? FORGET all that verbiage .... it's all about "bam! bam!"
When you are changing subtraction to addition, you'll always draw two lines. First one is through the subtraction to make it plus. The other one is either through the negative sign (bzm!) or making a negative sign beside the number.
(I didn't think of "bam bam" - it was a spontaneous response of a full-grown college student.)
I s'pose "Shh! SHow!" would be a gentler way of conveying the principle.
