Okay, I've moved! And, indeed, there were no particularly nasty "oops, you were supposed to do something with this" pages in the fathoms of the desk, though some of that stuff got cursory glances before being stuffed into a plastic bag and stuffed into the drawer at the other end.
I did discover a weekly to do list from about the second month there. Going to try to revive that practice.
I also met with admins about possibly, actually, developing some software for adults for learning spelling. People were moderately enthusiastic about it. Since it's still a seed cast on only-but-so-fertile ground I"m holding out on enthusiasm 'til it at least germinates ... and even then that's a long way from bearing fruit. However, we'll see! Next task for me is to outline the kinds of things for practicing spelling that could be done via 'puter (like reverse chaining with adjustable difficulty.)
I did say that in the "game scenario" that, well, I wasn't really comfortable wiht actually blowing up any teachers :-) Forcing them to apologize and acknowledge student brilliance, yes... we'll see :-) One of the "game scenarios" is the old-fashioned spelling classroom... but with five or six different versions, *none* of which are the mundane stuff. YOu pick your teacher... surfer dude, hmmm... WWF guy??? (sorry, I don't think so - somebody else has to pull that one off :-), somethings either culturally ambiguous or diverse - but I should be able to tap into other cultures somehow. One with pure white-bread ... but with sentences that the trad wb would not be expected to utter for one reason or another (all PG at worst, but Miss Jones can do that and still have you chortling). Another totally serious and biblical, another ... quotes - and actually this could be a way to tap the culture thing without that most obnoxious dreadful "trying to be cool" phenomenon happening - is to go to literature for quotes with the words.
So... I guess the next step is to scan in a bunch of literature so I can search for the words! Or, has Mr. Google already done that? (And like Mr. Google, I'd have to figure out the copyright boundaries.)
